Coast to Coast: A Run for Survivorship Announces
The Buy a Mile Program

Southport, CT -- Each individual mile of Christian McEvoy's 3500 mile run across the United States will be run in honor of a cancer patient, victim, or survivor.

McEvoy's Run, Coast to Coast: A Run for Survivorship, will raise awareness and funds for cancer survivorship. Cancer survivorship is the experience of living with, through, and beyond the diagnosis of cancer. The funds raised by McEvoy and his team will benefit the new Yale Cancer Center Survivorship Clinic.

The Survivorship Clinic at the Yale Cancer Center provides care and consultation to people who have been diagnosed and treated for cancer and focuses on the long-term effects of cancer, surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. Yale Cancer Center Survivorship Clinic is a much needed facility in Connecticut where 50 people are diagnosed with cancer each day and across the United States which is home to 10 million cancer survivors.

For a $100 donation, a donor can purchase one of the 3500 miles of the Coast to Coast: A Run for Survivorship. Every donor or honoree will receive a commemorative card bearing the honoree's name and the exact mile number run in his or her honor. The card will be signed and dated by McEvoy on the day he runs that specific mile.

"This run, this phenomenal team effort, is for cancer survivors. Simply, anyone who has been touched by this disease is a survivor. We want to show our support for the survivor community; we are thinking of them every step of the way. Buy a Mile is wonderful opportunity to join this national effort to support survivors in a very personal way." McEvoy said.

McEvoy will begin his run in San Francisco on July 1st, 2006. The six month traverse will take the team through Denver, Chicago, Cleveland, New York, and New Haven. He will finish in Narragansett, Rhode Island.
