Lorraine Hrubiec
After surviving breast cancer and its accompanying lumpectomies,
radiation, and chemotherapies twice, one would think that Lorraine's
body had proven itself strong and unwilling to succumb to disease.
While this is true in the case of cancer, Lorraine has since been
plagued by a series of illnesses including pneumonia, diverticulitis,
and sinus tachycardia. As a nurse, Lorraine questions whether the
radiation and chemotherapies she underwent as part of her treatment are
the source of her weakened immunity and chronic illness. While these
therapies may have been necessary at the time, the toll that they have
taken on her body have left her feeling worse than she had when she was
living with cancer. With the support of her youngest son and with the
internal strength she developed while working as a nurse and helping
her sister through cancer, Lorraine continues to persevere. She is
currently exploring holistic treatment options that might be able to
strengthen her immune system and liberate her from the aftermath of a
disease that she is told she has been free of for years.
