'gone running'  Dinner/Dance to Benefit Cancer Survivors

Fairfield, CT Coast to Coast: A Run for Survivorship is pleased to announce gone running, an evening of dinner and dancing to benefit Christian McEvoy’s 3500 mile cross continental run for cancer survivorship.  Dr. Kenneth Miller, Director of the Yale Cancer Center Survivorship Clinic will deliver the keynote address at the May 13th event held at the Scandinavian Club, 1351 South Pine Creek Rd, Fairfield CT.

gone running is the major fundraiser in a local series taking place in the Fairfield area before Coast to Coast: A Run for Survivorship kicks off in San Francisco on July 1, 2006.  Beginning on July 1, Christian McEvoy, 23, President of Challenge America Foundation, Inc., will run a 3,500 mile route across the United States as the centerpiece of Coast to Coast: A Run for Survivorship.   The run is a nationwide effort to unite the American cancer survivor community and raise funds and awareness to improve the standards of cancer survivor care and quality of life.

Beneficiaries of donations raised by Coast to Coast: A Run for Survivorship are the Yale Cancer Center Adult Survivorship Clinic and other non-profits that focus on the long-term effects of cancer, surgery, radiation and chemotherapy and the special problems of patients and their families both during and after cancer treatment.

“I am very excited to have the opportunity to unite the Fairfield community behind this important cause,” said Matthew Pierson, the Operations Coordinator for Coast to Coast: A Run for Survivorship and a Fairfield native.

“We have an opportunity to kick off this nationwide awareness raising campaign right here in Fairfield.  I am proud to a part of this generous and innovative community that is supporting the 10 million American cancer survivors,” McEvoy said.
